India hope to continue winning ways at Chepauk
It's another day in office for the Indian players. The series is won, the boys have got back to some sort of batting or bowling form and there's nothing much to play for. Had this been the Davis Cup, the dead rubber would probably have been cancelled, but that surely can't happen in this game, in this age.
With a long testing tour looming, the top Test players have already left for Australia. But the likes of Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, R Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma - who are equally important to the Test set-up - have to play out these games, slugging it out with a below-par West Indies on a sluggish Chepauk track for a Sunday crowd and a TV audience.
It's understandable why four of the five above-mentioned players kept themselves away from a practice session on Saturday morning. Viru, who had gone back to Delhi after the Indore heroics, didn't even reach Chennai when the team was practising. He, of course, was back before the BCCI annual prize distribution ceremony in the evening - the combo offer that came packaged with the fifth ODI.
The biggest draw in this game is Sehwag himself. With the 219 on Thursday, all the doubts surrounding his form (or the lack of it) have been pulled beyond the boundary. The Chennai fans, who are so used to Viru's heroics, are waiting to see him fire yet again on Sunday. But the Chepauk track won't exactly be conducive to the kind of supreme strokeplay one saw during the fourth game.
The track has been relaid and has not yet settled down. A couple of months back in the Champions League, leggie Sunil Narine, playing for Trinidad and Tobago, cast his spell around Chennai Super Kings that led to the ouster of the IPL champions. He would like to do that once again, this time for the Windies.
"From what we saw in the recent Champions League matches, the pitch will be a bit slow and will help the spinners. The first 15 overs will be critical in terms of getting a good start," Denesh Ramdin, West Indies' senior wicketkeeper-batsman, said.
The West Indies will probably be more interested in the game than their Indian counterparts. Chris Gayle's "child abuse" jibe after Sehwag's heroics shouldn't go down too well with the team and Darren Sammy and Co must be trying to prove that they are not a bunch of listless kids after all.

Climate talks end with late deal
UN climate talks have closed with agreement on a package of measures described by the chair as "balanced".
The European Union will place its current emission-cutting pledges inside the legally-binding Kyoto Protocol, a key demand of developing countries.Talks on a new legal deal covering all countries will begin next year and end by 2015, coming into effect by 2020.
Management of a fund for climate aid to poor countries has also been agreed, though how to raise the money has not.
Talks ran nearly 36 hours beyond their scheduled close, with many delegates saying the host government lacked urgency and strategy.
Nevertheless, there was applause in the main conference hall when South Africa's International Relations Minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, brought down the long-awaited final gavel.
